HUGS Stories

Artur is a husband and father to his 3-year-old son. For over a year, he was in need of a Laminectomy—a type of spinal decompression surgery—but could not afford the procedure.

Artur felt dejected and abandoned, having to accept living in pain, until he heard about Project HUGS from a family friend. He applied and was approved for his surgery at no cost.

“I am incredibly grateful to Project HUGS for providing me with a laminectomy.  I have been living with unmanageable back pain that has affected my work and daily family life for years, but could not afford the surgery to fix the problem. Without Project HUGS help, I would still be living in discomfort. This is a great program, providing a much needed service for many like me, who are living in pain and cannot afford to do anything about it,” says Artur Kras.

Artur now knows the joy of holding his child without discomfort, of living without pain and feels healthier and happier.

Because of our commitment to improve the quality of life for all individuals in need of surgery, Project HUGS is here for Artur and all who are like him. As the number of people living without insurance or unable to afford the procedures they need continues to grow, Project HUGS needs your help and support more than ever.

Please consider making a donation to help sponsor a surgery today. Your gift will directly make a difference in someone’s life.

On behalf of Artur and the patients we are dedicated to serving, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
